These are four strategies for enhancing worker mobility and productivity on the road.

1. Mobile Devices

More businesses are arming their workplaces with mobile devices such as smartphones, notebooks, and tablets to enhance mobility and productivity on the road. The functionality of these devices can be astounding; the ability to run apps combined with web access means smartphones and tablets can significantly boost any business’s ability to get more done on the road.

Having a fixed policy also ensures that your organisation has met legal requirements for dealing with private and/or confidential information.

For example, employees may be prohibited from downloading client data via unsecured Wi-Fi networks. An organisation may prohibit notebooks being left unattended in public places. Your business may mandate that all devices have firewalls, anti-virus software, and other security programs.
Your mobile device policy should also incorporate guidelines for sharing, storing, and safely disposing of data. All staff members should be given a copy of your policy and be encouraged to make time to read it. New staff should be alerted to the policy during their induction. Regular audits and risk assessment checks should conducted to keep information secure.
